We recently caught up with our favourite Australian male blogger to talk life, trends & his love of beautiful leather jackets. Liam is the well dressed man behind the mens focused fashion & lifestyle blog Front Row Suit.
Here's a peek into the world of Liam from front row suit along with inspirational interior peices from his Sydney apartment and his wardrobe favourites this season.
Q. What do you love most about Australian style and Australian designers?
I find Australian style completely unique- we have an amazing ability to blend international trends with our own culture- weather the inspiration be drawn from our coastal or rural heritage- to me it is always obviously Australian. When I see images of Australian's working overseas in fashion, the balance found between high end designers and casual street wear is perfection.
Q. What are your 5 wardrobe staples?
Right now I am never without a faded pair of Kusbi jeans, vintage T shirts of the Cream on Crown Street variety, Burberry Prorsum leather biker jacket, Acne leather slides and my enormous Balenciaga carry all bag.
Q. What inspired you to start Front Row Suit?
At the time I was working for the Stock Broking business at Macquarie Bank- as a result of my job I spent hours in front of a computer- I found that Australian men's online fashion content was totally non-existent. So I started producing what I wanted to see!
Q. What have you got on the cards for 2012?
2012 is all about new opportunities. I want to keep pushing
FrontRowSuit to new levels, bringing on additional contributors and new content. The sky is the limit.
Q. Who is your style icon?
My style icons are all people that I am lucky enough to have in my life- Dan Single and Michael Nolan from Ksubi have amazing style I always admire, as does Pip Edwards and Dion Lee.
Q. What do you love most about Le Black Book?
Le Black Book takes a great edit of Australian designers, and offers them in a friendly space. The website is optimistic- and I like that.
Q. Who and what inspires you day to day?
I source inspiration from my friends and family. I admire my mothers persistence at moving forward, as well as many of things my friends have achieved. Being around them makes me want to be better at what I do.
Q. What are your top 3 trend predictions for menswear dressing A/W 12?
Suiting has been an obvious trend seen at the most recent menswear collections- with models looking more gentlemanly than previous years. The use of leather across the board and in detailing on jackets and blazers was also a key message for AW12. Sportswear themes running through footwear and jackets have also returned, with many designers showing track like sneakers and nylon jackets.
Q. What destinations do you have on the cards for 2012?
A close friend of mine is marrying in Italy- so a trip to Milan will be in order- and a hopefully a few days to party in Mykonos!
